When we move into this math for the first time we will be asked to remember a few past skills we have learned. Most importantly we will need to remember how to factor and simplify expressions. Polynomial operations and expansion comes in very handy too. If you thoroughly understand how to treat numerators and denominators as separate entities, it is not that difficult to navigate. If you concentrate your effort on outcome of the products and quotients, you will often find these problems a cinch. Students will practice multiplying and dividing rational expressions (equations that have fractions which may contain variables) through factoring, simplifying, and finding the least common denominators.
The practice problems will provide you with a good base understanding of higher levels of algebra skills. They serve as a good primer for advanced algebra techniques.
