Polygons are two-dimensional planar figures that have at least three sides and angles. Polygons are made up for straight lines that are all connected. If a polygon has all equal sides and angles it is considered regular, otherwise it is termed irregular. Concave polygons have at least one angle pointing towards the center of the figure. Convex polygons have no inward angles. Simple polygons have a single boundary or a simple perimeter. If a polygon intersects itself, as if it were folded on itself it is called a complex polygon.
What are the 12 types of Polygons? A polygon is a two-dimensional shape that has 12 types. Lets discuss all of them one by one.
1) Regular Polygon: It has equal sides and the same interior angles. Its shape has: Six equal sides and interior angles that measure 120 degrees. 2) Irregular Polygon: This polygon is irregular because its sides and angles are unequal.
3) Convex Polygon: Its interior angle is less than 180 degrees, and vertices are apparent.
4) Concave Polygon: It's angle measures more than 180 degrees, and vertices are inwards and outwards.
5) Trigons: It has three sides. It has different categories that are: Scalene Triangle - all unequal sides, Isosceles Triangle - two fully equivalent sides, Equilateral Triangle - all equal sides and angle 60 degrees
6) Quadrilateral Polygon:It is a four-sided polygon or a quadrangle, and its types are: Square, Rectangle, Rhombus, Parallelogram
7) Pentagon Polygon: Its all five sides are equal in length. It can be a regular and irregular pentagon.
8) Hexagons: It has six equal sides, vertices, and angle measures.
9) Equilateral Polygons: This polygon's all sides are equal, like an equilateral triangle, a square, etc.
10) Equiangular Polygons: Its all the interior angles are equal, like a rectangle.
11) Hendecagon: It has eleven sides with the same length, and the interior angle measures 147.3 degrees.
12) Dodecagon: It has twelve sides. It is regular when sides and measures of angles are equal. It is irregular when sides and angles are not equal.
These worksheets explain how to identify polygons based on their characteristics. Students will identify types of polygons, calculate sides and angles (both interior and exterior), and more. Questions range from beginner to intermediate.
