Students will "translate" each word problem into an algebraic equation, and then solve for the answer to the questions. Questions include problems about real-life kinds of situations, multiple choice questions, as well as questions specifically about algebraic equations which the student must construct and solve. In both concept/terminology and execution, problems range from the simple (writing "number sentences") to more complex (constructing algebraic equations). Some problems involve fractions. Independent practice worksheets are also provided at both the basic and intermediate skills level, so that students can improve continue to improve their proficiency. This set of worksheets contains lessons, step-by-step solutions to sample problems, both simple and more complex problems, many worksheets, a review, and a quiz. When finished with this set of worksheets, students will be able to solve both basic and intermediate-level word problems using algebra.
These worksheets explain how to solve word problems using algebra. Sample problems are solved and practice problems are provided.
