These holiday-themed worksheets provide students with a year-round opportunity to practice word problem-solving skills.

All of the materials in this section of our website involve the theme of holidays in the trajectory of a story-based math word problem. This helps engage students in the content because it is being presented to them in a timely manner. To solve just about any word problem, we encourage student to follow a simple, yet effective process. Start out by reading the complete problem. Do not brush over details or tune out when something does not include numbers. The Devil is in the details of these types of problems. Once you comprehend what was presented to you, ask yourself what they are looking for. I would suggest circling any numbers or word numbers that may lead you to this and any keyword that might indicate a form of a mathematical operation. Then I would formulate some form of a math expression or equation to model what is being told to you. From there, I would just plug the values cited into the given variables of the expression or equation.

Your students will use these fun, holiday-themed worksheets to solve simple, moderately difficult, and multi-step word problems. This set of worksheets contains ample practice problems in twenty-five worksheets, each containing between six and ten word problems. Most of the worksheets are two pages long.
