Interest is money paid regularly at a particular rate for the use of money lent, or for delaying the repayment of a debt. In these worksheets, your students will learn to calculate simple interest. They will learn the relationship between principle (the base amount of money), interest, and time, and solve word problems for each of these three things. Students will then solve more advanced interest word problems involving decimals, fractions, exponents, etc. They will also learn how to calculate commissions. This set of worksheets contains lessons, step-by-step solutions to sample problems, and both simple and more complex problems. There are also five worksheets (two at the basic skills level and three at the intermediate skills level) which students can use for independent practice. When finished with this set of worksheets, students will be able to solve word problems involving interest rates.
These worksheets explain how to solve problems involving both simple and advanced interest rates and commissions. Sample problems are solved and practice problems are provided.
