In these worksheets, students will learn to solve word problems involving ratios and proportions.

A ratio is a a comparison of two numbers. A proportion, which is an equation with a ratio on each side, states that two ratios are equal. In these worksheets, your students will solve word problems that involve finding ratios and proportions. Students will find values when given a ratio. They will compare two ratios to determine which is bigger. They will fill in the blank to complete a word based proportion. You have probably heard that solving the steps that you take in a math problem does not matter, as long as you come upon the correct solution. This could never be truer than with word problems that involve proportions. Because there are literally countless ways to approach each of these problems. The best way to start these is to diagram the situation after reading it. Draw a picture if it applies. From there see what they are describing with the relationship through the proportion to get an idea of where you stand. Remember to also read the actual question portion of the problem. Some students skip over this and come out with solutions that the question never intended.

They will also solve middle-school level ratio word problems. There are 57 worksheets in this set. The worksheets are broken down into sets focusing on specific topics, with six to seven worksheets in each set. Additional worksheets are provided at both the basic and intermediate skills levels. This set of worksheets contains lessons, step-by-step solutions to sample problems, both simple and more complex problems, reviews, and quizzes. It also includes ample worksheets for students to practice independently. Students may require extra paper on which to do their calculations. Most worksheets contain between eight and ten problems. When finished with this set of worksheets, students will be able to solve word problems that involve ratios and proportions. These worksheets explain how to solve word problems involving ratios and proportions. Sample problems are solved and practice problems are provided.
