Blending consonants and saying them aloud is not as easy as you would think. Consonants make up the most sounds in the words, which makes sense since they account for over eighty percent of the alphabet. Towards the ending of words, you will mostly come across two and three letter chunks. In order to teach students how to recognize and say these chunks we suggest you present words that all share the same ending blend such as the -lk ending which includes words such talk, folk, milk, walk, and talk. I often do a great deal of brainstorming with students. I give them and ending and an example and set them loose. They often think of words, as a class, that I didn't even realize fit into the pattern. The ending of a word is just as important as the beginning, which is why End blends from Easy Teacher represent the ideal teaching tool in the classroom.
The first lesson asks students to identify an image and then complete the end blends for each image. For example, the second drawing is of a bush and kids are given the b and the u, along with two blanks to complete the sh end blend. Each worksheet increases in difficulty to keep track of student progress. Answer keys open up more time for you to deliver one-on-one teaching. The worksheets look at words that have word blends at the finish or end of the word. Push your students to new education heights by using end blends lessons created by the Easy Teacher line of interactive curriculum.
