These activity sheets will teach your students how different phonemes can create different words.

The following collection of worksheets will have your students using individual phonemes in order to transform given words into new words. Activities include replacing beginning, middle, and ending phonemes, both consonant sounds and vowel sounds, to create new words that match given picture clues. Answer keys have been provided for each worksheet for instructors. Note that these sheets are based on formal (a.k.a. "proper") English pronunciation, and do not account for regional variances.

Fun Fact: In the Southern United States, the long "i" sound is often replaced by the "ah" sound, as in "The ahce has melted in mah sweet tea!"
